Wow, it has been quite a year at Restore Haiti with many challenges due to the ongoing political upheaval and gang violence, yet also soooo many things to be excited about and proud of!! We've had many students graduating and reaching new heights in their impending careers, some amazing student success stories, some fabulous long-term staff in Haiti reaching retirement age who will be receiving retirement packages and almost all of our student sponsors receiving a video message from their student(s) with just a few more to still be sent. The list goes on and on, below are a few highlights!!
One of our Legal Sciences students, Braham Isaac Misère (below), who attends the Jacmel Law School recently took an oath as a legal practitioner at the Jacmel Peace Court. In doing so he swore to observe the laws and regulations in force, to respect the rights of his fellow citizens and to defend with honor and conscience the interests entrusted to him.
Braham Misère is now at the stage of his studies where he is able to assist people at the first level of our justice system.
Steeve Jerome (video below), who began in our Restore Haiti program at the age of 5, is just one of our many success stories. He has grown from receiving financial support for his education as part of our Student Sponsorship Program to becoming a social media intern and staff member of our Communications Team (whose salary and internship was supported by and paid for by Wander Creative) and is currently in the U.S. speaking at churches to share his story of how Restore Haiti helped him and to encourage more student sponsorships as sponsoring a student with us truly changes lives, as Steeve and many of our students are evidence of.
Steeve Jerome is currently in the U.S. speaking at churches to share his story of how Restore Haiti helped change his life, and how we are changing the lives of so many in the communities that we support.
Despite schools being unable to remain open at times throughout the year due to the ongoing gang violence, we had and continue to have as the summer months and more graduation ceremonies happen, many of our students graduate this year.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR GRADUATES ... WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!!!
Two of our recent Grade 13 graduates, Fredd Schaina Fudilus and Eliézer Charles (son of our Director of National Operations in Haiti, Fedony Charles).
