Boosting the Haitian Economy with our School Supply Campaign

With our annual School Supply Campaign almost upon us, we thought it would be a good time to share all that goes into making this possible and the significant positive impact it has on the local Haitian economy, merchant incomes and individual job opportunities.

From sourcing and purchasing local fabric and materials for the backpacks and school supplies to hiring and training a team of ten Haitian staff to sew and distribute 1,200 backpacks, our most important objective is to ensure that we implement job creation opportunities, support local merchants by purchasing all school supplies and backpack materials needed in-country and to encourage community development by engaging local volunteers to aid us in this project, learning valuable skills by doing so.

We have hired one of our past program participants, Yanicka Volcy, to manage our Backpack Sewing Project for our upcoming School Supplies campaign. Aside from being a graduate of our Sponsorship Program, she has also graduated from both the Tailoring and Administrative Assistant post-secondary programs!! Yanicka will be training and managing a team of ten sewers to sew 1,200 backpacks for our students, backpacks that will be filled with school supplies as they return to school in the fall.

In early July, we will be beginning to ask for donations for our School Supply campaign, but early donating is open now at the link below. Please help us give our students the best chance of receiving an excellent education, in part by being equipped with the essential supplies needed to do so. Thank you!!!

EVERY SINGLE PENNY DONATED WILL GO DIRECTLY TOWARDS THE COST OF 1,200 BACKPACKS FILLED WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES
