Day 19 / Seek God And know that He is Good !!!!!!

Wednesday morning I didn’t sleep very well last night …. I heard some voodoo going on from 2am til about 430…. Very very evil sounding I began to pray that God will shake the temples and that they come to know who is really in control ….. As I was praying a cool and refreshing breeze entered my room the blanket that covers the window gave way so that I could see the stars , My God is bigger than any problem and will intervene and have his way here in this community ….. I woke up later than normal had breakfast and went to help the Atlanta team on day 3 of cinder blocks ….. This is an amazing workout , I’m not sure how far it is but it’s straight down and after your done you have to turn around and face the hill to get back to the top to grab more bricks …. Each time i got to the top I was having to pray for strength …. It was back to the regular temperature today “HOT” …. …. The progress on the house is coming along great …. Really awesome to see a house from the beginning stages and possibly get to see it done before I leave …. Tonight the women have a conference so I’m chilling on the roof at the Pastor’s house and enjoying the beautiful view of the mountains as the sun is setting and a cool breeze rolls in …. I’m truly thankful for what God is doing in the community and in my life as well .. I have always been thankful for the “things” I have back home … But this being my third week living here I have come to appreciate the simple way of living ….. Why on earth do I need all the junk that I have , to see how these people who I call family get by with what they have ,and have a joy that is indescribable … Well  I pretty much answered my own question …. If I were to live a simple life how much more would God show up, each time these kids call my name when I’m literally a mile down the road from them it reminds me of why I am here …. To constantly be a light , and most times that is reversed they are a light to me and helping me press on …. When I’m carrying the blocks, sanding a house , painting a house , I have that running through my head ….. Their smile their laugh , them shouting my name … Or I hear them singing a beautiful song that they were singing in church ….

As I’m sitting here the roof is about to come of the church ….. The women are getting their praise on …. So beautiful to hear them sing !!! Tonight I talked a lot with Jean Piere Stevenson he told me a lot about his family ,and I did the same …. I explained to him that it was hard for me to sleep the other night because of the voodoo , he went on to tell me that he prays for the people that are involved with that everyday that they would come to know Jesus , he also went on to say that he has witnessed to the voodoo priest before and told him about Jesus and explained to him that Our God is different than the many that he serves … This kid is 16yrs old and is a earth shaker so awesome to have a conversation with him last night …. Although his mom and dad are not together they are all Christians , he told me how he lead his father to Christ … What an inspiration this kid is !!!!

Today I’m entering heights and weights of the kids from the feeding program  Then at 5pm Thursday I will be playing basketball with Rudy from the Atlantaand Sammy and a few other guys from the community …. Really stoked for this !!!!
